THE SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION of the THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
By Father Allen Abadines
Catholic Doctrine tells us that the Blessed Virgin Mary was Immaculately conceived in the womb of her mother, Saint Anne. It means that Mary was conceived free from original sin by virtue of the foreseen merits of her son Jesus Christ. Immaculate means without stain. The essence of original sin consists in the deprivation of sanctifying grace, and its stain is a corrupt nature. Mary was preserved from the defects by God’s grace; from the first instance of her existence she was in the state of sanctifying grace and was free from the corrupt nature original sin brings. The concept of the Immaculate Conception is best described by the very words of the angel Gabriel – “Hail , full of grace, the Lord is with you.” – Luke 1:28 Please join us as we celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary on Thursday, 8th December 2016. The Mass time is changed only for that special day, instead of 7:00p.m., the Mass will be at 9:00 in the morning.
